Fishing

Door County has some of the best fishing in the world. In fact Sturgeon Bay and surrounding waters have been named the #1 Smallmouth Fishery in the US by Bassmaster.

In the summer you can charter for world class salmon fishing or hire a guide for small mouth bass, perch or walleye. We always go with Kyle Wogsland.

In winter there is world class ice fishing for Walleye, Nothern and Door County Whitefish.  A guide is highly recommended we always go with JJ Malvitz.

There are a number of public boat launches within 10 minutes and these give you easy access to Lake Michigan or Sturgeon Bay or Green Bay if Lake Michigan is too rough. We are in one of the best spots to launch a boat and have a number of fishing options without spending all day getting there. Also, there are a number of transient options - launch and then leave the boat in a harbor.  It's an amazing day to fish and then come back to the Log Cabin to cook and spend time by the campfire.

Harbor Towns

Door County is called the Cape Cod of the Midwest and for good reason, 300 miles of shoreline and the harbor towns.  From bustling to rustic, there are a number of towns to visit all within a short, scenic drive.

Things To Do

Theater

The Peninsula Players has a history which is as captivating as the plays staged at the theater during the past 83 years. And it began simply with “two planks and a passion.” Patrons have returned year after year, drawn by the theater’s tradition of providing exceptional professional productions of classic and contemporary literature. They are also delighted by the talent of its acting company and the theater’s serene location along the shores of Green Bay.

Preserves/State Parks

Right across the road! Hike through Door County Land Trust's 155 acres of prairie, woods and seasonal wetland complex. The trail is about 2 miles.

Fish Boils

The Door County fish boil is something you have to experience. Even if you don't like fish, it is something you have to see at least once, the restaurants usually have things to order other then fish. We like the Viking and Pelletier's. www.doorcounty.com/where-to-dine/fishboils
